About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Surgical Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Able to read cardiac monitor Able to administer narcotics Description: The unit has 12 beds and a total of 20 staff members. During the day shift, there are 3 or 4 nurses and 1 patient care technician. The night shift consists of 3 nurses and 1 patient care technician. The patient ratio is 4:1. The unit is equipped with central lines, PCA, epidural, drains, foley, wound vacs, and wound care. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates should have stepdown and post-surgery experience preferred. Typical procedures performed include colon resections, Whipple surgeries, liver and kidney surgeries, and vascular trauma. There is an emphasis on administering cardiac drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin. The ideal candidate is a team player with critical thinking skills who is kind and compassionate. Assessments and vital signs are required every 4 hours along with rhythm interpretation. Every other weekend commitment is required.
