Interventional Radiology Tech

Overview In Interventional Radiology, you’ll work with a specialized IR team to diagnose and treat complex vascular disease in real time. The role requires technical precision, patient safety, and compassionate care. General Duties Demonstrate proficiency and quality in procedures according to departmental policy and procedure in technical performance of x-ray and angiography. Accept and perform assigned duties according to departmental protocols. Select appropriate techniques, label and mark digital films correctly. Apply knowledge of scrubbing, circulating, X‑ray and hemodynamic monitoring techniques. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all cath lab specials equipment. Operate the Medrad injector and radiology equipment. Maintain radiation exposure ALARA and operate x‑ray devices with and according to safety protocols. Ensure X‑ray badges are maintained according to policy and employees are aware of badge results. Maintain good radiation safety and, if needed, provide services as Cardiovascular/X‑ray Tech. Accurately manage x‑ray dosage and exposure time. Ensure radiation equipment is tested at appropriate intervals to keep exposure to patients and coworkers at the lowest levels. Professional Development Maintain current license with both LSRT and ARRT. Maintain current CPR license. Customer Service Coordinate work schedule with Departmental Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage. Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the Cardiology department. Maintain a daily log of patients seen and complete exam billing forms. Maintain equipment and work area and keep adequate supplies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Experience and Qualifications Experience or training as a Radiology Tech, Cath Lab Tech, Radiology Special Procedures tech, or Interventional Radiology experience. Licenses and Certifications Required: Radiology Technician from the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board Required: Basic Life Support HeartSaver & First Aid from the American Heart Association Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association Required: Radiography Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Work Shift Days (United States of America) LCMC Health is an equal opportunity employer.
