Ohio University Southern invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing, a non-tenure track faculty position with an emphasis on instruction in the laboratory and/or clinical setting in the traditional on-campus AAS-N and BSN programs beginning Fall Semester 2026/August 16, 2026. This is a full-time 9-month renewable position on the Southern campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating instruction primarily in the laboratory setting using various methods and modes of delivery. Didactic and/or clinical instruction may be assigned based on program needs, expertise, and credentials. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Meeting with course faculty to develop course, clinical, and laboratory expectations for students. Identifying student's needs in terms of clinical and laboratory objectives of the relevant course(s).
Providing instruction to students in laboratory / simulation settings or at clinical sites regarding professional attitudes, knowledge, and skills. Assisting students in using problem-solving techniques.
Using varied and appropriate teaching methods effectively. Collaborating with course faculty to effectively measure and evaluate student performance in the laboratory and/or clinical setting. Successful candidates will be required to be on campus and/or at regionally located clinical site assignments throughout the academic year (August - May). Other teaching assignments/instructional responsibilities may be considered based on candidate expertise and/or credentials. Participation in scholarship is not required. All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met. The School of Nursing has six locations in Southern and Central Ohio and is one of the top 10 largest nursing schools in the country. The School of Nursing is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Nursing is housed within the College of Health Sciences and Professions. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required by the start date of appointment. Successful candidate must be enrolled in or committed to completing an MSN within 2 years of hire date. An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio RN license is required. Must have Ohio RN license prior to start date. An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) or multi-state RN license, or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio or multi-state RN license is required. Must possess Ohio or multi-state RN license prior to start date. A minimum of two years (24 months full-time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required. 3+ years of clinical RN experience is preferred.
