Position Mission The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing the overall maintenance, repair, construction and upkeep of the facility and mechanical maintenance of the plant and equipment, ensuring full Regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Manage the daily functions of the maintenance and repair department. Review all production lines for layout, make recommendations accordingly; ensure equipment optimization; recommend automation upgrades with relevant ROI; review facility layout and recommend areas of improvement using capital expenditure procedures; outline maintenance activities and forecast time and budget requirements while meeting deadlines; manage all Capital Expenditure projects with full accountability for budget adherence and on time completion, providing monthly progress reports. Manage the Daily Work Order Process for all Repairs: analyze and monitor the parts inventory process, implement checks and balances for inventory part purchasing, complete periodic reviews of inventory handling and usage patterns. Manage the department weekly P&L – conduct periodic vendor selection audits adhering to company code of conduct. Implement and audit a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program: review equipment condition to determine efficient and cost‑effective preventive schedules; manage and continuously develop the PM program to improve equipment reliability, minimize replacements, decrease downtime, and improve spares inventory; review logs to identify equipment deficiencies and schedule repairs with minimal production disruptions; coordinate PM projects with production and sanitation departments, plan to avoid scheduling conflicts; supervise all maintenance projects carried out in‑house or outsourced, ensuring strict adherence to budget allocation. Oversee Facilities Management: install and maintain all emergency equipment; maintain plant‑wide alarm system; maintain, test and upgrade all systems including lighting, locks and master keys, fencing, door alarms. Assist R&D when new product production requires equipment and line adjustments. Coordinate with department managers and production and sanitation teams to provide cost‑saving solutions to operational issues. Communicate to management all issues and decisions impacting production results, revenue, process improvements or department/staff issues; issue daily downtime report. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Actively participate and support the Safety Committee. Actively participate and support the Food Defense Team. Chair the departmental meetings and follow up on action items through to successful completion. Abide by and lead by example to enforce the Plant Rules and Regulations as described in the Employee Guidelines and GMPs. Responsible for overall food safety, quality, and legality as it pertains to the department. Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Complete tasks and projects as required by the company. Supervisory Responsibilities Manage the Maintenance staff: observe individual performance and provide on‑the‑job training and guidance as needed; complete annual performance evaluations timely; recommend restructuring department staffing as deemed necessary; conduct periodic line training set‑up, cleaning, equipment maintenance and repair; provide hands‑on training on general maintenance activities, including construction, painting, welding, soldering, refrigeration repair, in conformance with all company and regulatory standards. Check GMP adherence daily and LOTO and other safety policies accordingly. Assist in the training and development of staff through supervision and feedback. Ensure a safe and clean working environment. Supervise staff attendance, lunches and breaks. Ensure vendors/contractors adhere to GMPs and company policies including confidentiality agreements. Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department. Review safety records to uphold maximum safety standards for all maintenance employees. Provide emergency response including First Aid and CPR. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Understand and communicate complex technical, procedural instructions and safety issues. Demonstrate basic safety skills. Comprehensive mechanical skills. Training in welding (MIG, TIG, Oxy‑Acetylene Arc). Training in the operation of mill and lathe shop equipment. Training in plumbing and electrical fabrication. Training in electrical troubleshooting, circuit board repair. Training in PLC programming and troubleshooting. Training in general equipment control of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Training in HACCP and pre‑requisite programs, Code of Safe Practices, chemical handling, workplace harassment prevention. Knowledge and use of word processors, spreadsheets, databases, and computer‑based materials management tools. Required Experience Degree in engineering or facility management or a maintenance manager certification, or familiarity with economic aspects of maintenance management, including budgeting costs, negotiating contracts with equipment vendors and hiring personnel. Physical Demands The physical demands for this position are sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and walk the entire plant frequently. Work Environment The work environment characteristics include moderate to high noise levels; work carefully around food processing, baking, mixing and packaging machines, conveyor belts and fans, ovens, mixers, loading machines, boilers and tumblers.
