Project Engineer

Our Project Engineers work closely with field leadership, operators, blasters, and customers to support projects from planning through execution and completion. The role provides direct exposure to active jobsite operations, operational planning, production support, drone and modeling technology, data collection, and real-time problem solving while helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals and customer expectations.

We are looking for an engineering professional who is adaptable, operationally minded, and interested in being directly involved in the work. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both in the field and in a collaborative office environment and is motivated to build expertise in complex drilling and blasting operations, project execution, and emerging field technologies.

• Schedule is driven by active project and operational needs and may vary by jobsite, production schedules, and customer requirements.
• Work is primarily Monday–Friday; however, extended hours, travel, early morning starts, and occasional weekend work are expected in support of field operations and project execution.

• Hybrid field-based position based out of Springfield, OR.
• Frequent travel to active drilling and blasting project sites across the United States is required.
• Work is regularly performed in active mining and site development environments.

• We offer a generous and progressive pay scale. Pay for this position depends on experience. 
• Typical annual earnings: $85,000 - $125,000 per year.

• Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of engineering, project engineering, field engineering, or construction operations experience within mining, drilling and blasting, aggregates, or related industries preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Industry knowledge: Exposure to construction, mining, quarry, aggregates, drilling, blasting, or heavy equipment operations preferred.
• Technical proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with project management, scheduling, drone mapping, modeling, or construction technology platforms preferred.

• Technology aptitude: Demonstrates strong interest in operational technology, automation, drone applications, modeling software, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and production.
• Travel flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel frequently to project sites and support field operations as needed.

• Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, field personnel, vendors, and leadership teams.
• Problem solving: Ability to identify operational challenges, develop practical solutions, and adapt quickly within dynamic field environments.
• Driver license: Valid driver’s license with a driving record that includes no more than 3 moving violations and/or chargeable accidents in the last 3 years and no DUIIs.
• Background check: Required through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in compliance with federal government restrictions.
• Pre-employment drug test and physical: Pre-employment drug test and physical required. We conduct random drug tests and post-accident testing. For safety reasons, ARI maintains a zero-tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use.

• Project coordination: Supports the successful execution of drilling, blasting, crushing, and heavy civil construction projects from initial planning through project completion.
• Field support: Maintains active field involvement to support operational execution, project readiness, production goals, and quality expectations.
• Operational alignment: Coordinates closely with field leadership, project managers, and operations teams to ensure projects remain organized, efficient, and properly supported.
• Customer interaction: Participates in customer meetings, project discussions, and field reviews to support project communication and execution.
• Project tracking: Monitors project progress, schedules, operational updates, and key deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Issue resolution: Identifies and helps resolve operational, scheduling, and project-related challenges to support safe and efficient project execution.

• Blast support: Assists with drilling and blasting project planning, field implementation, and operational coordination activities.
• Drill pattern integration: Supports drill pattern layout, blast planning activities, and field execution coordination using available operational technologies and software platforms.
• Technical support: Serves as a technical resource for field operations teams, assisting with operational questions, field adjustments, and project support needs.
• Production optimization: Supports efforts to improve operational efficiency, production quality, fragmentation results, and overall field performance.
• Data collection: Assists with compiling field data including drill logs, blast reports, production information, and operational records.
