Job Description

Pro-Spec Painting Corporation has operated continuously for over 46 years, performing commercial and industrial painting projects of national prominence. We are building the next generation of this company -- a team of driven professionals who want careers, not just paychecks. This apprenticeship is where that team starts.

We are not looking for hobby painters. We are looking for someone who wants to learn a skilled trade, earn a journeyman wage, and grow with a company that rewards the people who show up and deliver.

This is commercial and industrial painting performed on active construction sites -- stadiums, water tanks, bridges, office buildings. It is not residential touch-up or hobby painting. You will work outdoors in summer heat and winter cold. You will be on scaffolding, on ladders, on your feet all day. This is skilled physical work, and the people who do it well earn a real living.

Our Registered Apprenticeship Program is certified by the US/NJ Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. Three years, 6,000 hours of paid on-the-job training, plus 140 hours of classroom instruction each year. You finish with a Journeyman Painter credential and the skills to run jobs.

What You Will Do

• Work on interior and exterior painting of commercial and industrial structures

• Read blueprints and examine surfaces to determine the scope of work

• Prepare surfaces: scraping, sanding, patching, priming

• Mix coatings to match specifications

• Build and use scaffolding, ladders, and lifts safely

• Learn to calculate material quantities and labor costs

• Follow all health and safety procedures without exception

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for reliability, work ethic, and character. We are not looking for experience -- that is what the apprenticeship teaches. We are looking for people who do not quit when the work gets hard.

• Show up every day, on time, ready to work -- no exceptions

• Physically capable: lift 25-75 lbs., work on ladders and scaffolding, operate power equipment, full days on your feet in all weather

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver's license and own vehicle (you report to job sites across South Jersey)

• Local to South Jersey with a daily commute to job sites in the region (Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester, Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Burlington counties)

Wage Progression -- 3-Year Program (6,000 Hours)

• 1st 1,000 Hours: $18.00/hour

• 2nd 1,000 Hours: $21.00/hour

• 3rd 1,000 Hours: $24.00/hour

• 4th 1,000 Hours: $26.00/hour

• 5th 1,000 Hours: $29.00/hour

• 6th 1,000 Hours: $32.00/hour (Journeyman rate)

Credit for prior hours worked and trade experience will be considered. Prevailing wage rates are paid at a higher rate when applicable.
