Senior Director Financial Planning Analysis

Our client, a leading technology company in the enterprise software, SaaS, and developer infrastructure industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead strategic financial planning, operational forecasting, and go-to-market (GTM) finance initiatives. This highly visible leadership role will serve as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership team, providing actionable financial insights that influence business decisions, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and long-term financial performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of FP&A leadership, revenue operations, sales finance, and business operations experience. This individual must be comfortable operating beyond traditional budgeting and forecasting, partnering directly with Sales, Revenue Operations, Marketing, Customer Success, and other business functions to understand how changes in pricing, pipeline, sales productivity, customer behavior, and operating investments impact financial performance. The Senior Director will play a critical role in developing sophisticated forecasting models, evaluating strategic investments, improving financial visibility, and ensuring alignment between financial plans and business execution. Key Responsibilities Strategic FP&A & Financial Leadership Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities across key business functions. Serve as a strategic finance partner to the CFO and executive leadership team, providing insights and recommendations that support operational and strategic decisions. Develop dynamic financial models to evaluate the impact of changes in pricing, sales performance, customer acquisition, product investments, and operating expenses. Conduct scenario planning, sensitivity analyses, and what-if modeling to help leadership understand financial risks, opportunities, and potential business outcomes. Drive annual operating plans, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial projections. Develop executive-level reporting packages, financial dashboards, and presentations that clearly communicate business performance and financial trends. Partner with functional leaders to establish financial targets, evaluate performance, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Go-to-Market (GTM) Finance & Revenue Operations Serve as a key financial partner to Sales, Revenue Operations, Marketing, and Customer Success leadership. Develop and maintain revenue forecasts incorporating sales pipeline, bookings, renewals, expansion, customer retention, and other key revenue drivers. Partner with Revenue Operations to evaluate pipeline health, conversion rates, sales velocity, deal progression, and forecast accuracy. Analyze sales productivity, quota attainment, territory performance, headcount capacity, and sales coverage models. Support the design, evaluation, and financial modeling of sales commission and incentive compensation plans. Assess the financial implications of GTM strategies, including pricing changes, discounting, sales investments, channel partnerships, and customer acquisition initiatives. Develop ROI analyses for sales and marketing investments, headcount expansion, and new GTM programs. Partner with Sales leadership to identify opportunities to improve revenue predictability, sales efficiency, and overall GTM performance. Ensure alignment between sales forecasts, operational assumptions, and company-wide financial projections. Revenue Forecasting & Business Analytics Build and refine driver-based revenue forecasting models that incorporate operational and commercial performance metrics. Analyze SaaS and subscription-based revenue metrics, including ARR, MRR, net revenue retention, gross revenue retention, churn, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and bookings. Evaluate revenue trends by product, customer segment, geography, and sales channel. Perform variance analyses comparing actual results against forecasts, budgets, and prior periods. Identify key drivers of revenue performance and communicate actionable recommendations to leadership. Develop reporting and analytics capabilities that improve visibility into revenue growth, customer economics, and operating performance. Collaborate with Accounting and Revenue Operations to ensure consistency between financial reporting, operational metrics, and forecasting assumptions. Operational Finance & Business Partnership Partner with business leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Operations to align financial planning with operational priorities. Evaluate the financial and operational impact of changes in business strategy, resource allocation, and organizational structure. Develop business cases and financial models supporting new initiatives, investments, and strategic decisions. Assess operating leverage, cost structures, resource utilization, and opportunities for margin improvement. Lead headcount planning and workforce-related financial analysis in partnership with HR and functional leadership. Monitor departmental spending, operating expenses, and performance against financial objectives. Establish KPIs and performance measurement frameworks to improve accountability and business decision-making. Financial Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement Improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and financial visibility through enhanced processes, systems, and analytics. Partner with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Technology teams to improve integration of CRM, financial planning, and ERP systems. Develop scalable financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools to support business growth. Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes. Ensure consistency and integrity of financial and operational data across business functions. Leverage advanced analytics, business intelligence tools, and emerging technologies to enhance financial planning capabilities. Lead, mentor, and develop FP&A professionals while fostering a collaborative, analytical, and business-oriented finance culture. Establish clear priorities and accountability across financial planning and business partnership activities. Present financial forecasts, business performance analyses, and strategic recommendations to the CFO and senior leadership. Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders. Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. 12+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, sales finance, or related financial leadership functions. Significant experience in senior FP&A leadership roles, including managing teams and partnering with executive leadership. Strong background in GTM finance, revenue operations, sales forecasting, and operational financial planning . Experience supporting enterprise software, SaaS, subscription-based, or other recurring-revenue business models. Proven experience developing revenue forecasts using sales pipeline, bookings, customer retention, and operational performance metrics. Strong understanding of sales commission structures, incentive compensation, sales productivity, and GTM economics. Advanced financial modeling capabilities, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, ROI modeling, and long-range planning. Demonstrated ability to partner closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, Marketing, and other business functions. Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics and unit economics. Experience leading annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and executive financial reporting processes. Excellent executive communication, presentation, and business partnership skills. Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving technology environment. Preferred Qualifications MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred. Experience within a high-growth, global enterprise software or developer technology company. Previous experience supporting a CFO or senior executive leadership team. Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms and enterprise financial planning systems. Familiarity with Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Planful, or comparable FP&A platforms. Experience with subscription revenue forecasting, consumption-based pricing, or usage-based business models. Experience supporting GTM transformation, sales compensation redesign, or sales productivity initiatives. Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, including ARR, NRR, churn, CAC, LTV, and sales efficiency. Experience developing financial dashboards and working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Proven success implementing scalable forecasting and reporting processes within a growing organization.
