Direct Support Professional (Night Shift) Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services – Southeast Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) Pay Range: $38,630 – commensurate with experience (Pay Band 3) About the Role Assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and support for mobility. Use behavior management strategies to support individuals exhibiting maladaptive behaviors. Provide emotional and behavioral support while promoting independence. Implement behavior intervention plans and collaborate with the support team. Foster a safe, structured, and positive environment. Shift hours: 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. (3rd shift). A shift differential is available: weekday $2.25 / hr., weekend $3.00 / hr. All new hires must complete SEVTC’s 10‑day Pre‑Service Training Program for Direct Support Professional Staff, which includes Person-Centered Approach techniques, CPR/First Aid certification, medication administration, nutrition management, and physical/behavioral management training. Training in behavior management and crisis intervention is also available. Skills & Experience Required Strong verbal and written communication skills. Dependable, accountable, and reliable. Ability to work a flexible schedule and with an integrated team. High school diploma or equivalent. Active, valid driver’s license. Basic computer skills – keyboard, mouse, and EHR navigation with minimal assistance. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and intervening with aggressive behaviors. Successful completion of the Pre–Service Training Program (CPR, First Aid, medication administration, nutrition management, and physical/behavioral management). Ability to collaborate with co‑workers, Residential Supervisors, and ID team members. Bonus Points Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, or other developmental disabilities. Experience working with medically fragile individuals. Experience as a Direct Support Professional, Certified Nursing Assistant, or similar role. Experience with electronic medical records.
