Manager, Risk & Insurance (HR Title: Insurance Risk Specialist II)

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications About the Position This is an on‑campus, in‑person Manager, Risk & Insurance (HR Title: Insurance Risk Specialist II). The role reports to the Director of Risk Management & Insurance and is responsible for managing the Workers’ Compensation Program, Auto/SCUV Program, and the Certificates of Insurance Program, as well as maintaining the RMIS system. The position ensures that claims intake and processing practices align with compliance requirements and support the institution’s overall risk management objectives. Essential Functions Manage the Workers’ Compensation Program: receive, process and file claims with carrier; coordinate Return to Work program; main point of contact for workplace injuries, claims and investigations; create, analyze and revise policies and guidelines. Manage the Auto Program: receive and process auto claims, file with carrier or process internally; manage training compliance, oversee MVR checks and vendors; reconcile Auto/golf cart/SCUV inventory; create, analyze and revise policies and guidelines. Maintain data within the Risk Management Information System (Origami) and other institutional programs related to insurance claims, property schedules and other data. Manage and maintain Certificates of Insurance, Bond Programs and Inland Marine programs; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and vendors; create, analyze and revise program policies and guidelines. Support insurance renewal activities, including data collection and updates for schedules of values and exposures. Compile loss runs and contribute to internal operational reports related to insurance, claims and loss control programs. Assist in verifying insurance compliance with university contract requirements. Maintain department webpages to support risk management programs; participate in special projects and other duties as assigned. Work evenings, weekends or holidays as needed to respond to emergency incidents outside of regular hours. Education and Experience A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in workers’ compensation, auto, property, and general liability claims management. Experience with insurance policy management and basic tracking of claims and finances is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Strong problem‑solving, organizational, planning and time‑management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize day‑to‑day tasks with project‑management skills. Ability to identify and provide metrics and reports; maintain accurate records for compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint; experience with a Risk Management Information System. Rapid learning of policies and claims processes; positive attitude and servant‑mindset. Understanding of compliance is preferred; interest in higher education is desired. Preferred certifications: Workers’ Compensation Adjuster License, ARM, AIC, or related certifications. Physical and Environmental Demands Physical Bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, sit for long periods, squat, climb, handle objects (dexterity), kneel, stand, walk for long distances, push/pull Environmental Exposure to excessive noise, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature or humidity, dust, fumes, gases, radiation, microwave; driving motorized equipment Deadline to Apply Position is open until filled.
