HVAC & Generator Mechanic

About the Role We are seeking a highly mobile HVAC & Generator Mechanic to support maintenance, repair, and operational readiness across multiple project sites. The role requires flexibility, independence, and strong technical expertise. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on HVAC systems, including: Portable HVAC units Air handlers Chillers Rooftop units (RTUs) Split systems Ventilation systems Inspect, maintain, and service diesel and/or natural gas generators ranging from 20kW to 200kW, such as: Conduct load testing Perform minor repairs and system checks Mixed environments (3-phase and single-phase systems) Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and implement effective solutions. Conduct system performance evaluations to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and documentation accurately and on time. Travel frequently, often on short notice, to support maintenance and emergency service needs. Coordinate with project managers, facility personnel, and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, state and local standards, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition. Assist with system installations and upgrades as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience (commercial or industrial preferred). Working knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, mechanical and electrical components. Experience servicing generators (diesel, natural gas, or standby systems). EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred). Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physically capable of: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Working in confined spaces. Climbing ladders. Working outdoors in various weather conditions. Preferred Additional Experience Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Generator certifications (e.g., Cummins, CAT, Generac). Experience in government, federal, or mission‑critical environments. Forklift operation experience.
