Junior Geologist

Salary: $65,000-$85,000 (commensurate with experience) About the Role Are you a motivated geology graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands‑on, comprehensive experience in both surface and underground mining operations? Imerys is seeking a site-based Junior Geologist to join our dynamic team in Willsboro, NY. In this role, you won't just sit behind a desk—you will play a vital, hands‑on role in ore QA/QC, active drilling campaigns, geological data management, and environmental compliance. This is a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure across diverse mining environments and directly assist in our site's exciting operational transition from Surface to Underground mining. What You’ll Do (Primary Responsibilities) Ore Control & Quality Assurance: Take charge of in-pit grade control and laboratory QA/QC to ensure all ore shipments consistently meet strict quality standards. Geological & Drilling Support: Partner closely with senior technical staff on diamond drilling and blast hole sampling campaigns. You will assist with core/cutting logging, contractor management, drillhole planning, database management, and sample preparation. Environmental & Compliance Monitoring: Support the site’s sustainability and safety goals by assisting with environmental compliance activities, regulatory reporting, and field data collection/analysis. Additional Supporting Responsibilities Reporting & Data Management: Prepare routine technical reports, update geological maps, and manage data tables to support resource modeling, mine design, and reconciliation efforts. What We Are Looking For (Qualifications) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related Earth Sciences discipline. Experience: 0–3 years of experience (internship experience or field camp in mining/exploration environments is a strong plus). Familiarity with geological logging, mapping, and sampling techniques. Basic proficiency in geological modeling software or GIS tools is an asset. Strong technical writing and data analysis skills.
