POSITION OVERVIEW

This role isn't for someone who waits for the phone to ring. The Director of Franchise Development owns the growth of their brand's national footprint — finding the next great franchise owners, building the broker relationships that keep leads flowing, and turning a strong story into a signed agreement. You'll report to the VP of Franchise Development and work hand-in-hand with your brand's leadership team to make sure the opportunity you're selling is one you believe in and can communicate with conviction.

They see a stalled deal or a quiet territory as a hill to charge, not a reason to wait it out.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Footprint growth. Drive the expansion of your brand's national footprint by identifying, targeting, and closing the right franchise candidates in your priority markets.
• Broker-driven pipeline. Build and actively manage relationships with franchise brokers and consultant networks — this is a primary lead engine, not a side channel, and it needs to be fed and nurtured continuously.
• Brand storytelling. Learn your brand inside and out and translate it into a vision candidates can see themselves stepping into — the opportunity, the market, the long-term upside.
• Full-cycle sales ownership. Guide candidates from first contact through discovery, due diligence, and contract negotiation to final signing, coordinating with legal and administrative teams along the way.
• Brand team collaboration. Work closely with your brand's marketing and executive teams to shape recruitment campaigns and represent the brand's long-term vision at Meet the Team Days, trade shows, and industry conferences.
• Metrics ownership. Track your lead flow and sales activity in HubSpot, know your numbers cold, and use them to sharpen your approach call over call.

Requirements:

 

WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE

• A hunter, not a harvester — energized by prospecting and outbound relationship-building, not just working inbound leads.
• Someone who charges the hill: sees a tough territory, a cold lead, or a stalled deal as a challenge to solve, not a reason to coast.
• A natural storyteller who can craft a compelling vision of the brand and the opportunity, and adjust the pitch to the person in front of them.
• Data-driven and self-critical in the best way — obsessed with knowing the metrics and getting a little better with every call.
• Coachable, hard-working, and ambitious — ready to buy into the proven processes we've built within the Five Star platform and do it the proven, Five Star Franchising way.
• 5+ years of proven franchise sales experience with a consultative selling approach — and a track record to back it up, including closing 20+ deals a year.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with legal, marketing, and operations to keep deals moving to signature.
• Broker network experience with strong, established relationships preferred.
• Home service franchise sales experience preferred.
• HubSpot experience preferred; comfortable working within a CRM to manage lead flow and sales activity.
• Able to travel as needed to broker and industry conferences.
