Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled mechanic to join our team, specializing in the inspection, diagnostics, and repair of diesel trucks and fire trucks. This role involves ensuring engine systems, electrical systems, brakes, and hydraulics are functioning optimally. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining accurate records of your work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and fire trucks, including engine systems, electrical systems, brakes, and hydraulics.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and component inspections.
• Carry out repairs and replacements of damaged or malfunctioning parts, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot complex issues and develop effective repair solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, creating a safe working environment.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation.
• Perform other duties as required.

Essential Skills

• 5 - 10 years experience in mechanics, preferably diesel.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and various hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and brake systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• ASE or EVT certifications are a huge plus.
• Experience in fleet maintenance, electrical work, preventive maintenance, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• CDL Class B with Air Brakes endorsement.
• Light electrical experience.
• Experience with truck and heavy equipment repair, diagnosis, chassis, and welding.

Work Environment

Work in a shop/warehouse setting filled with various emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, wildfire rigs, and new garbage trucks. The day shift runs from 6 AM to 5 PM, with a 4/10 schedule and optional overtime on Fridays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sumner, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $47.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
