About the Position

Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: None Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Thursday/Friday 0800-2030 and Saturday 0730-2000, with one day of call per week Hours per Shift: 13 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card Must-Have: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to perform and teach MRI exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images - Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations - Safe operation of MRI and post-processing equipment Description: Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, MRI Technologists will perform procedures for interpretation. Technologists will assist radiologists on procedures as needed and supervise student MRI Technologists assigned to them. They will be responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures, utilizing age-appropriate care. Tasks include obtaining correct written orders for procedures and efficiently using time for patient care assignments. Technologists will provide clinical education to student technologists. They will efficiently utilize imaging equipment while minimizing repeat examinations and managing supplies to contain costs. Instructions and preparations for patients regarding imaging procedures will be provided, and informed consent will be obtained as needed. Technologists will ensure the patient’s understanding of procedures and communicate discharge instructions to family members. They must ensure correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories are entered into the computer system. Communication with radiologists regarding procedures is essential, and a positive, professional demeanor must be maintained. Adherence to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures is mandatory. Practicing good radiation protection and following established guidelines is required, ensuring safety in accordance with ALARA principles. Technologists will complete annual mandatory in-services and maintain current licensure requirements. Confidentiality of medical and sensitive information must be upheld. Support for departmental efforts to meet established projects and goals is encouraged. Technologists will assist other team members in maintaining records, reports, and files. Flexibility and accountability in job duties are needed, along with taking initiative towards improving departmental operations. Skill in operating standard office equipment is also necessary. Work demands include frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range are essential. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue, and potential exposure to infectious materials exist. Frequent exposure to the risk of radiation and intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. The work environment will have a quiet to moderate noise level. Candidates should be prepared to work under stressful conditions and may be required to take call and/or work weekends and holidays.
