Staff Database Engineer

Taking primary ownership of the reliability and performance of a large PostgreSQL environment, the full-time Staff Database Engineer will work remotely to manage database health, address reliability risks, and lead incident responses while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities. Key responsibilities Own the day-to-day reliability and operational health of Chaturbate's PostgreSQL environment Identify and proactively address database reliability, performance, and scalability risks Lead the response to database incidents and implement improvements to prevent recurrence Required qualifications 10+ years of hands-on experience operating PostgreSQL in large-scale, business-critical production environments Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL reliability, including replication, failover, backup, and high availability Experience in preventing, diagnosing, and resolving complex production database incidents Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals, including WAL, autovacuum, and indexing Ability to automate operational work through scripting or configuration management
