Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring Chemo certification and a 1:4 patient ratio on night shift.

Details

• > Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a cancer center setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 13-week assignment length
• Every other weekend required based on unit needs
• Floating required within skillset, may include floating to the main campus connected by pedestrian bridge
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• > Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Current BLS and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/infusions, accessing/managing ports, and chemotherapy administration required
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis and sepsis required
• Experience in settings such as BMT, infusion center, inpatient oncology, or outpatient oncology preferred

Additional Information

• > Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, port access/management, and monitoring for oncologic emergencies
• Handle body fluid post-chemotherapy and manage/dispose of cytotoxic spills safely
• Recognize and manage side effects of biotherapy and chemotherapy treatments
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible for this assignment
• Block or special scheduling requests are not accommodated unless approved at time of booking
• This assignment is expected to serve as the traveler's primary work schedule
