Job Description
The Occupational Therapist will provide direct patient care and documentation for patients of all ages, birth through geriatric, to enhance physical health and functional abilities. The Occupational Therapist will also carry out other operational duties for the Rehabilitation Department as indicated and provide physical therapy to outreach sites as indicated. Provide direct patient care as prescribed within standard practice guidelines and in full compliance with established Occupational Therapy protocols.
EXPERIENCE: - Previous experience not required Occupational Therapist Page 3 of 3 - Experience with computerized health information systems is required. Knowledge of EPIC is strongly preferred. Must be familiar with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS: - Promotes safe/clean environment. - Uses appropriate critical thinking and judgment in provision of care. Performs all aspects of treatment based upon national, departmental and evidence- based standards. - Documents in a timely, accurate manner which supports medical necessity in accordance with departmental standards. - The ability to work in Microsoft Office and Windows, basic computer skills and knowledge, or ability to understand EMR systems. - Must have the ability to adapt to frequent interruptions ability, identify and prioritize duties and the ability to work under stress and concentrating on critical tasks. - Must be able to work effectively in a team- orientated environment with diverse groups of people and the ability to display a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations. - Must be able to demonstrate a professional attitude, in all situations; the ability to see the patient as a unique individual, rather than a task to complete.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: - A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, from an accredited college or university, is required. - Must have the ability to obtain licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapist through South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners. - Current BLS certificate - Must be able to communicate effectively with providers and all levels of staff. - Maintain a valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Physical Demands, Strength rating: o Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. - Prolonged periods of standing or walking are required. - Finger Dexterity and Repetitive Motion: o Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, or fingers. o Must be able to use and manipulate hands in order to provide patient care. - Vision and Hearing: Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.
