You will need to be based in the greaterChicagoland area.A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patientcentered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles andprofessional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse toassess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumesthe primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personallyprovided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.Essential Job Functions* Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.* Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require theexpertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to developa plan of care for specified patients.* Provides input into the development of clinical paths with assigned CaseManager.* Uses care plan and/or clinical path in providing patient care. Delegates asappropriate based on patient needs and competencies of staff.* Competently performs patient care according to hospital policy and nursingpractice within clinical specialty, as documented by the respective clinicalskills inventory evaluation and completion of competency days.* Evaluates care given and adjusts plan of care to meet the changing needs ofthe patient.* Documents appropriately in patient care records.* Prepares and administers medication/treatment according to the physician'sorders, utilizing professional knowledge base to assure patient safety.* Works collaboratively with other patient care and multidisciplinary teammembers to provide patient centered care.* Documents or ensures documentation of all of patient care from admission todischarge according to hospital policies.* Incorporates discharge planning into clinical pathway or plan of care toprovide patients with smooth transition from hospital to home.* Provides cost-effective care by appropriate utilization of time, supplies andpersonnel.* Evaluates patient care interventions and collaborates with all team membersto make changes as necessary.* Initiates and/or participates in patient care conferences.* Assumes the responsibility to interact on a consistent basis with the patientand family providing coordination of the plan of care for those patientswhose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager.* Promotes, has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocolrelating to the physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of neonatal,pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.Required Qualifications* Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing* Associate of Science in Nursing or higher* Current Illinois RN license* Active BLS CertificationPreferred Qualifications* 1 year of Medical-Surgical Nursing experience* ACLS* Specialty Certification* RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital* Float RN experiencePosition Details* Job Type/FTE: Registry (0.1 FTE)* Shift: Day, Rotating* Work Location:Hyde Park* Unit/Department:Periop and Procedural* CBA Code:NNUWe’ve been at the forefront of medicine since 1899.
