DLI LABOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SUPERVISOR ADMINISTRATOR I SUPERVISOR

Maryland Department of Labor is hiring a DLI Labor Law Enforcement Supervisor (Administrator I) for the Division of Labor and Industry, Prevailing Wage Unit. This role directs and assists in daily operations of the Prevailing Wage Unit, oversees investigative staff, and coordinates agency operations. Position Information Grade: 16 Location: 7300 Calhoun Place, Rockville, MD 20855 Main Purpose The main purpose of this position is to direct and assist in the daily operations of the Prevailing Wage Unit consistent with the standards adopted by the Division Commissioner. Responsibilities Plan and organize workload of investigative and administrative staff. Administer, review, and make recommendations on investigations, inspections, and actions. Communicate with employers, employees, and other parties orally and in writing. Schedule and follow up on investigator’s field site work. Interpret and apply agency policies, rules, and regulations. Implement new regulations and policies directed by upper management. Set goals, deadlines, and oversee workflow. Coordinate workflow with other units. Provide consultation services and promote agency work. Adjudicate labor law violations, testify at hearings, and enforce decisions. Monitor employee attendance and performance for evaluations. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work. Substitutions for Experience 30 college credit hours for each year up to four years of required experience. Bachelor’s degree for required experience. Master’s degree for required experience. U.S. Armed Forces commissioned officer experience equivalent to required experience. Selective Qualifications At least six (6) months of experience supervising wage and hour investigators. Preferred Qualifications Experience planning, organizing, and overseeing investigative staff workload. Experience interpreting and applying labor laws and enforcement procedures. Demonstrated experience leading or supporting regulatory enforcement or investigative operations. Licenses and Registrations Employees may be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland if duties involve vehicle operation. Special Requirements All candidates are subject to a background check with Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) for unpaid debt issues.
