Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Float (ICU FLOAT) nurse position is located in a high-acuity, Level I trauma center environment. This role involves providing comprehensive critical care across multiple ICU units, including Tower 2, Tower 4, and Neuro, within a teaching hospital setting. The ICU FLOAT nurse will be responsible for delivering expert patient care, managing critical drips, and adhering to safety and sterile procedures, all while working night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks, with holidays as needed. The shift hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, scheduled 4 weeks in advance, with changes possible two weeks prior based on hospital needs.
• Required Qualifications: 2 or more years of ICU experience in a Level I trauma center or teaching hospital. Certifications required include BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Neurological Status Scale). Valid license to practice must be available; willingness to wait for licensure verification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma, neuro, and cardiothoracic ICU units, including lung transplants and ECMO. Knowledge of telemetry and ability to read tele strips.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have experience with critical drips and ventilators (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow). The role involves working in a float pool, with the understanding that float rotation is mandatory across ICU and MedSurg/Telemetry units, including sister campuses. Orientation includes two shifts, with an additional shift as needed. All reports are completed bedside, and skin assessments are performed within the first four hours of each shift. The hospital's charting system is Cerner. No call required; standby response time is 30 minutes.
