Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist / Sonographer

GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced and fully qualified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists and Sonographers to provide on-site imaging services in support of the VA New Jersey Health Care System.

Available imaging specialties may include:

• General Radiography / X-Ray
• Fluoroscopy
• DEXA / Bone Densitometry
• Computed Tomography (CT)
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
• Mammography
• Diagnostic Medical Sonography / Ultrasound
• Vascular Ultrasound

Candidates must be experienced in their respective modality and able to perform independently with minimal supervision. The VA will provide facility-specific familiarization with protocols, procedures, and equipment; however, candidates are expected to arrive fully trained and clinically proficient.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

• Hold a current, full, and unrestricted Radiologic Technologist license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia, as applicable to the position.
• Maintain all required professional certifications for the applicable imaging modality.
• Be technically proficient and capable of independently performing required imaging procedures.
• Have the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
• Provide verifiable documentation of education, training, certifications, licensure, and professional experience.
• Maintain all required continuing education necessary to keep professional credentials current.
• Successfully complete VA credentialing and approval requirements before beginning patient care.
• Comply with VA Medical Staff bylaws, policies, procedures, safety requirements, and standards of professional conduct.

Required Certifications by Modality Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist General Radiography / X-Ray

• Current ARRT certification in Radiography RT(R)
• Applicable state radiologic technologist license

• Minimum 3 years of advanced-modality experience preferred/required for independent coverage

Candidates should have experience with:

• Contrast and non-contrast CT examinations
• Multi-slice and spiral CT
• Cross-sectional anatomy
• 3-D reconstruction
• CT fluoroscopy
• CT-guided biopsies and drainages
• Peripheral vascular examinations
• Cardiac CT
• Retrospective and prospective cardiac gating
• Lung biopsy
• Radiofrequency ablation
• Cryo-ablation

• Intravenous contrast agents
• Hydration procedures
• CT dose tracking
• 64-slice and 320-slice CT scanners

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist

• Current ARRT RT(R) as applicable
• Advanced ARRT Magnetic Resonance MR certification
• Applicable state radiologic technologist license
• Minimum 3 years of advanced MRI experience preferred/required for independent coverage

Candidates should possess knowledge of:

• MRI physics and superconducting magnets
• MRI safety
• Cross-sectional anatomy
• Soft tissue and vascular anatomy
• Radio-frequency surface coils
• Contrast media
• Power injectors
• PACS
• MRI patient and equipment safety protocols

Mammography Technologist

• Current ARRT RT(R)
• Advanced ARRT Mammography M certification
• Applicable state radiologic technologist license

Candidates must have experience with:

• Routine and specialized breast imaging
• Magnification views
• Implant views
• Mammography quality assurance
• FDA mammography requirements
• Radiation safety
• Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist

• Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification through ARDMS
• Appropriate specialty credential based on services provided, including:
  • Abdomen
  • OB/GYN
  • Breast

Candidates should have experience performing examinations including:

• Abdomen
• Retroperitoneum
• Small parts
• Gynecologic ultrasound
• Male pelvis
• Obstetric ultrasound
• Vascular imaging
• Breast sonography
• Breast biopsy procedures

Vascular Sonographer

• Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification through ARDMS

Candidates should have experience performing vascular studies including:

• Upper-extremity venous studies
• Lower-extremity venous studies
• Carotid examinations
• Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI)
• Segmental pressures
• Aortic studies
• Renal artery examinations
• Lower-extremity arterial studies
• Evaluation of vascular stents and bypass grafts

Experience with Philips EPIQ 7, Hologic, and Siemens equipment is preferred.

Experience Requirements

Candidates performing advanced imaging modalities should have:

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant advanced-modality experience , or
• Documented experience meeting the required minimum number of procedures/cases for the applicable modality.

Candidates must be able to perform independently. The VA will not provide foundational modality training. Selected candidates will receive approximately two weeks of familiarization with VA-specific protocols, SOPs, systems, and equipment.

Newly assigned technologists may undergo an initial clinical assessment, including review of cases performed during the first weeks of assignment.

General Responsibilities

Depending on modality, responsibilities may include:

• Perform diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Verify patient identity and accurately interpret imaging requests.
• Prepare patients for procedures and explain examinations as appropriate.
• Position patients correctly to obtain diagnostically acceptable images.
• Evaluate image quality and repeat studies when clinically necessary.
• Operate imaging equipment safely and according to manufacturer and facility requirements.
• Use PACS and other imaging information systems appropriately.
• Maintain radiation safety and infection control standards.
• Prepare and administer contrast materials within applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after contrast administration.
• Prepare sterile supplies, catheters, local anesthetics, contrast materials, and procedural equipment when required.
• Assist radiologists and other physicians during imaging and interventional procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of examinations and patient care.
• Follow all VA policies, clinical protocols, SOPs, and professional standards.
• Maintain current competency, licensure, certification, and continuing education.

Healthcare and Occupational Requirements

Selected candidates must provide required healthcare screening and immunization documentation prior to beginning work, including as applicable:

• Current tuberculosis screening through TST or IGRA
• Chest X-ray documentation when required following a positive TB test
• Proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
• Proof of Varicella immunity
• Proof of Tdap vaccination
• Annual Influenza vaccination or approved medical contraindication documentation
• Bloodborne Pathogen training
• Hepatitis B vaccination documentation and related required testing
• Any additional VA-required occupational health screenings

Required Training

Candidates must complete all VA-required training, including applicable:

• BLS requirements
• CPRS / VA system training
• Infection control training
• Bloodborne Pathogen training
• VA mandatory education and orientation courses

Additional training may be required by the VA during the period of performance.

Credentialing

All selected candidates are subject to VA credentialing and clinical approval before providing patient care.

• Employment and professional experience

Work Schedule / FTE Requirements

A full-time equivalent position is generally defined by the VA as 80 hours every two weeks , excluding holidays.

Anticipated staffing requirements include:

• CT Technologist: 1.0 FTE, 5 days per week
• Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist / DEXA: 1.0 FTE, 5 days per week
• MRI Technologist: 2.0 FTE, 5 days per week
• Ultrasound Technologist: 1.0 FTE, 5 days per week

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced imaging professional who can work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, maintains excellent patient-care standards, and consistently follows established safety, imaging, and quality-control procedures.

Previous experience in a VA, military, hospital, academic medical center, or other large healthcare environment is highly desirable.
