Position Overview

Orange Beach City Schools is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable part-time Adjunct Physics Teacher to support our growing science program for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in physics, engineering, mathematics, or a related field who has a passion for working with students and helping prepare them for college and career success.

The selected candidate will work collaboratively with school administration and faculty to provide engaging, rigorous instruction aligned to Alabama Course of Study standards and Advanced Placement expectations, as applicable.
Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in Physics or other science coursework, which may include Honors, Dual Enrollment, or Advanced Placement Physics.
• Develop and deliver engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with faculty and administration regarding curriculum, pacing, and student progress.
• Utilize technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance instruction.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Maintain accurate records and grading documentation.
• Attend professional development as required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Science Education, or a related field is required.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate preferred, but not required for qualified adjunct candidates.
• Previous teaching or instructional experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and engage high school students in advanced scientific concepts.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable

Terms of Employment

• Temporary/Part-Time Employee (no benefits)
• Flexible schedule based on course offerings and student enrollment
• Salary: Hourly rate based on degree and public school experience / paid as earned
• Contract Period: August 3, 2026, through May 31, 2027
