Assistant General Manager

STARR Restaurants and James Beard Award–winning Chef Mark Ladner have reimagined Babbo - a storied Italian institution that helped define New York’s dining landscape.

We are seeking a dynamic, lead-by-example Assistant General Manager to join our team and help lead the restaurant’s daily operations. This is an opportunity for an experienced hospitality leader who understands that great hospitality is both an art and a discipline, someone who cultivates memorable guest experiences, appreciates systems and structure, and elevates their team through mentorship and example.

This position offers a comprehensive package including:

• A Base Salary Range of $90,000- $95,000

What you’ll do:

• Partner with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure an exceptional guest experience
• Lead by example, fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and teamwork
• Train, mentor, and develop team members through a hands-on “coach-player” leadership approach
• Uphold service standards while driving operational excellence and business performance
• Support scheduling, staffing, and other key administrative and operational functions
• Step into the leadership of the restaurant in the General Manager’s absence

Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of progressive restaurant management experience in an upscale or fine dining environment
• Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
• Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on training and developing teams
• The ability to drive performance and success without compromising hospitality or service standards
• Basic PC knowledge and proficiency with Word, Excel, scheduling software, OpenTable, Resy, and applicant tracking/onboarding systems
