Biologics Process R&D Scientist

Merck seeks a Biologics Process R&D Scientist to develop innovative manufacturing processes for biotherapeutics. The role involves designing robust clinical processes, conducting upstream and downstream bioprocessing experiments, and collaborating across functional areas to advance the biologics pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and disruptive technologies for next-generation biologics manufacturing
• Design and conduct experiments on cell-line development, upstream, and downstream bioprocessing
• Develop and characterize robust clinical processes capable of multi-kilogram therapeutic quantities
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale studies supporting scale-up and technology transfer to manufacturing
• Collaborate across BPR&D, process analytics, and other functions to advance biologics pipeline

Requirements

• BS with 2+ years relevant experience or MS degree in chemical/biochemical/biomedical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field
• Experience with protein expression, mammalian cell culture, protein purification, or biochemical engineering
• Scientific understanding of recombinant protein production and purification engineering principles
• Ability to independently comprehend, execute, and troubleshoot experiments
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, protein biophysical properties, and laboratory practices
• Proficiency organizing, analyzing, and presenting experimental data with technical documentation
