Public Works Department Truck Operator

Job Description

The incumbent is responsible to safely operate trucks for the Public Works department. Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Job Duties

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Operate trucks.
• Operate snow plows.
• Operate chat truck.
• Operate backhoe.
• Operate front end loader.
• Haul trash.
• Haul equipment.
• Travel out of state.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to acquire a CDL within 6 months of initial hire date.
• Obtain necessary IMSA Work Zone certification(s) within 6 months of initial hire date.
• Must be proficient in the use of various trucks and other heavy equipment.
• Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.

Supplemental Information

Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, and offenses against children.
