The charter for this team is to build and deliver innovative solutions across the real-estate ecosystem that deepen relationships with industry players, consumers, and brokers/agents. We are in the starting phase of the first product that will change the experience of agents and home buyers through the home buying journey.We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios. Beyond simple usage, this role requires the critical judgment to verify AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy. You should be comfortable integrating AI tooling into your daily workflow to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing you to focus on high-impact architectural and strategic engineering challenges.What You’ll Do:Use technology to create innovation that delights consumers, and agents, and disrupts the industryDefine work and drive technical decisions for complex features in the consumer and agent facing experiencesCollaborate across functional teams to solve business problems, and lead each step of the product development process: from ideation to release; rapidly prototyping, experimenting and delivering solutions that scale to support millions of usersConnect business and consumer problems to proposed technical solutions. Work with product and other stakeholders to rapidly deliver high-impact value and measure using dataDefine and evolve the architecture, design and implementation of consumer and agent facing experiences using clean architecture principles.Make effective and timely technology choices for implementing solutions, often without complete information.Drive a stable and scalable architecture using modern patterns to deliver a first-class mobile product. Drive adoption of design patterns, coding and quality standards, and software development processesHelp improve code generation and quality by utilizing agentic AI and best practicesMentor and coach junior engineersWhat You’ll Bring:5+ years of experience in software architecture, design and development, with specialty in developing backend APIs or full stack applicationsExperience with some modern distributed systems backend languages like Python or Typescript, or any other object oriented language (Go, Rust, Java, etc.)Good knowledge of distributed systems architecture from one of more cloud providers, preferable AWS, utilizing infrastructure as codeExperience with both relational databases (Postgres, etc.) and document stores (DynamoDB, mongodb)Experience with frontend web or app application developmentExperience building maintainable and scalable systemsExperience with agentic AI code generation a plusA data-driven approach with strong results and outcome-oriented focus, understanding the value derived from rapidly shipping code and learning/iterating on the resultsStrong empathy for our consumers and agents, and a passion for exceeding their expectationsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, connecting directly and effectively with cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levelsAbility to decompose complex business problems and communicate solutions succinctlyA passion for learning, continuous improvement, sharing, and working in a team environmentIndependent and can manage your own projects and time with ease, all the while setting and managing stakeholder expectationsBachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experienceDo the best work of your life at Realtor.comHere, you’ll partner with a diverse team of experts as you use leading-edge tech to empower everyone to meet a crucial goal: finding their way home.
