Lead Infant Teacher

The Goddard School® at Highland Creek, located in Concord, NC, is seeking an experienced, nurturing, and dependable Lead Infant Teacher to join our team!

At The Goddard School, we put our teachers first because they put our children first. Our Lead Infant Teacher plays an essential role in providing our youngest learners with a safe, loving, responsive, and developmentally appropriate environment.

We are specifically looking for an educator who has previous infant classroom experience and understands the unique care, safety, developmental, and emotional needs of infants.

Using our proprietary Wonder of Learning® program, our teachers create meaningful learning opportunities through sensory exploration, language, music, movement, tummy time, and individualized interactions while building strong relationships with each child and family.

Lead Infant Teacher Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing, responsive, and individualized care for infants throughout the school day
• Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities using the Wonder of Learning® curriculum
• Support developmental milestones through tummy time, sensory experiences, language, music, movement, and age-appropriate exploration
• Follow individualized feeding, diapering, and sleeping schedules for each infant
• Maintain strict adherence to safe-sleep/SIDS practices and all North Carolina childcare health and safety requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitized, and developmentally appropriate infant classroom
• Provide active supervision during all classroom, floor-play, and outdoor activities
• Maintain accurate daily documentation for feedings, diaper changes, naps, activities, and developmental observations
• Communicate professionally and positively with families regarding their child’s day, development, routines, and needs
• Observe and document developmental milestones and progress
• Lead and support Assistant and Resource Teachers within the classroom
• Collaborate with administration and fellow faculty to maintain a positive, professional, team-oriented environment
• Participate in required training and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting is REQUIRED
• Current SIDS/Safe Sleep training required or must be completed as required by North Carolina childcare regulations
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred
• Must meet all North Carolina childcare employment and training requirements
• Strong understanding of infant development, feeding, diapering, sanitation, safe-sleep practices, and age-appropriate care
• Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with children, families, coworkers, and administration
• Must be dependable, patient, nurturing, attentive, and comfortable working in a collaborative classroom environment
• Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stand, and move throughout the classroom
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the care and handling of children
