CNA - LTC/SNF

Job Description

Job Summary:
Assist nursing staff in providing direct patient care within long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, ensuring comfort and safety for residents. Perform a variety of tasks to support patient needs under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and patient behaviors accurately.
Assist with mobility, ambulation, and transfer procedures using proper equipment such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs.
Support clinical procedures like specimen collection, phlebotomy, and EKGs as directed.
Participate in setting up and aiding with invasive procedures, including PICC line insertions.
Ensure safety and comfort for patients with cognitive or physical impairments by recognizing individual routines and needs.

Qualifications:

Hold a valid Maryland or Compact CNA license.
Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing settings.
Demonstrate proficiency in vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, ADLs, and specimen collection.
Exhibit strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and establish boundaries.
Be able to work independently within scope, including floating within the hospital.
Prior experience with residents with dementia or cognitive impairments is preferred.
