Project Engineer – Underground Wet UtilitiesLocation: Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland EmpireSalary: Commensurate with experienceEmployment Type: Full-TimeGeneral SummaryThe Project Engineer supports the Project Manager in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of underground wet utility and utility plant construction projects—typically up to $10 million in value. This role requires hands-on field involvement, technical problem-solving, and collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and executing daily project activities.Coordinate field operations, including pipeline installation, shoring, traffic control, and trench restoration.Manage RFIs, change orders, permitting, utility notifications, and daily reports.Oversee subcontractors, material orders, and time-and-materials tracking.Review and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications.Maintain compliance with safety standards and company procedures.Prepare project documentation and correspondence using professional, grammatically correct language.Assist in maintaining strong client relationships and project profitability.RequirementsExperience: Minimum 2–4 years of field experience with a self-performing contractor specializing in underground wet utilities.Preference for candidates experienced in domestic water systems.Strong working knowledge of:Pipeline installation methodsWaterworks materials and systemsTraffic control, shoring systems, and trench restorationProficiency in project documentation, scheduling, change management, and cost tracking.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.EducationBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.Equivalent field experience in underground construction may be substituted in lieu of degree.Software ProficiencyRequired: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Preferred Experience In:CPM Scheduling (Primavera SureTrak, P3, or P6)Bluebeam (PDF markup & management)InEight Hard Dollar EstimatingMicrosoft Visio or AutoCADRapidPlan or similar traffic control design softwareIndustry SpecialtiesUnderground Construction • Wet Utilities • General Engineering • Water & Sewer Pipeline • Oil & Gas Pipeline • Power & Communication Line • Structure ConstructionCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive Salary: Based on experienceComprehensive Benefits:100% employer-paid Health, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance for employeeHealth insurance coverage for employee and familyCompany vehicle and gas card provided401(k) Retirement PlanProfit-sharing plan
