Metro PT is looking for a motivated, compassionate, and forward‑thinking licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team as a floater, providing coverage across our Central Suffolk County region. In this full‑time role, your clinic location will vary based on clinic needs and schedule demands—you’ll provide care at all of our clinics in the region. You’ll work closely with a Physical Therapist to deliver high‑quality patient care. Responsibilities Actively participate in patient care and notify the supervising Physical Therapist of matters concerning the patient's condition. Follow the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist and practice within state practice guidelines. Exercise sound judgement, care, professionalism, and skill in performing duties. Instruct and counsel patients effectively in exercises and recovery. Identify patients’ needs and exhibit compassion and caring. Convey potential modifications ensuring patient’s progress, safety, and comfort to the Physical Therapist. Complete documentation in the EMR to support the delivery of physical therapy services. Under direct supervision of and with co‑signature by a PT, record daily notes. Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests. Help treat patients by applying ice or heat packs, assisting patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, and performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques as requested by PT. Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines. Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Report any issues needing resolution to Physical Therapists. Qualifications Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of New York or eligible. Evaluate a patient's need for physical therapy and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Provide appropriate care and treatment based on the physician care plan, agency policy, and professional standards of care. Instruct family members, PTAs, Home Health Aides, and other caregivers in appropriate physical therapy techniques. Mandatory certifications: First Aid, AED, and CPR. And much more! The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000. Salary is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors.
