Role Overview The Inpatient Services RN CAP 1 is an entry-level registered nurse responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care for assigned patients in a nephrology setting. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, delegating tasks to care staff, and participating in decision-making, education, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Role Overview The Inpatient Services RN CAP 1 is an entry-level registered nurse responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care for assigned patients in a nephrology setting. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, delegating tasks to care staff, and participating in decision-making, education, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Perform patient assessments, document data, and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Educate patients and families on care needs and treatment procedures. Recognize patient status changes and collaborate with the healthcare team. Administer medications, manage transfusions, and respond to emergencies. Coordinate communication with dialysis providers and facility staff. Serve as a resource, participate in staff training, and assist with specialized care or coverage as needed. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited Nursing School with current state licensure. CPR/BLS certification required. Minimum 9 months of RN experience, with preferred dialysis or ICU experience. Entry-level for RNs with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience. Physical & Work Environment Involves heavy lifting, patient mobility assistance, and prolonged standing. Works in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious materials. May require travel, participation in on-call duties, and physical effort to move equipment. Supervision & Additional Duties May oversee care staff after completing required training and gaining experience. Participates in staff training, orientation, and may provide specialized nursing instruction.
