Overview Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is seeking a full‑time Ultrasound Technologist to join the Ultrasound team in Alaska's "Golden Heart City." Candidates should have 2 years of experience and national certification as an RDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers). Eligible new hires will receive a $20,000 Retention Bonus. Pay & Benefits Compensation: $40.08–$64.13 hourly wage based on experience and education Retention Bonus: $20,000 for eligible new hires Relocation Assistance: up to $7,500 Temporary Housing: 90 days of temporary housing provided Additional Pay: shift differential, annual increases, paid time off Benefits: medical, vision, dental, 401(k) with employer match Education Benefits: FHP tuition assistance, student loan forgiveness Other Benefits: onsite gym, wellness programs, discount programs Shift Schedule: 36 hours per week, 3 × 12‑hour shifts, call required Shift Differentials: $2.00/hr; weekend $2.50/hr; evening $6.00/hr; night Responsibilities Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders, using independent judgment and established methodologies. Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and/or treatment. Produces high‑quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation; maintains accurate documentation. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, troubleshoots issues, and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors; adheres to safety policies. Assumes ethical, legal, professional, and certification responsibilities related to the practice, including maintaining confidentiality. Ensures efficient workflow operation of the department; monitors and maintains inventory of supplies and materials to ensure uninterrupted services. Qualifications National certification in the specialist area from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or from Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Certification must be completed within 12 months of hire for new graduates. BLS certification required. 1–2 years of clinical experience typically required. Effective communication skills and human relations skills. Analytical ability to solve problems. One year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred; experience within the past 12 months as an Ultrasound Technologist in the specialty area is preferred.
