Description:

American Traveler seeks a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification and at least one year of acute care hospital experience for a children's hospital setting.

Details:

• Acute care pediatric setting within a children's hospital
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
• Epic EMR used for charting and documentation
• May involve treatment in PICU and pediatric outpatient or rehabilitation settings
• Floating to other departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius may be required if qualifications are met

Requirements:

• Current CCC-SLP certification
• BLS certification
• CA SLP license required in hand at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an SLP, including at least 1 year of hospital experience
• Acute care experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with pediatric populations including autism, developmental delays, hearing impairments, language disorders, and TBI preferred
• Experience with dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations, oral motor therapy, and trach/vent patients
• Experience with adaptive and augmentative communication devices preferred

Additional Information:

• Responsibilities include assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning, and reassessments for pediatric patients
• Provide patient and family education on communication and swallowing disorders
• Conduct dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and diet modifications
• Experience with evaluation tools such as CELF, PLS-4, and WAB preferred
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
• Two professional references from the most recent employer are required
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to offer, with no mid-contract requests accepted and no time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work together on the same unit
