Job Description The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN uses the nursing process, technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members. Scope of Practice: Assess, recognize, and address patients’ psychological and physical needs. Collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans. Communicate compassionately and effectively with patients, families, and team members. Perform evaluations, document findings, and comply with hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines. Supervise care provided by LPNs and/or CNAs and participate in clinical team conferences. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Nurse Residency Program – Winter 2026 Cohort Recent RN graduates or those graduating by September 2026 are invited to join a full‑time night shift residency program at St. James Hospital in Butte, MT. The program provides paid clinical training, interactive webinars, simulations, case‑based learning, and weekly in‑person sessions that transition to monthly after six months. Position Details Status: Full‑time (36 hours/week), Night shift Location: St. James Hospital – Butte, MT Salary: Starting at $33.38 per hour (range $32.73 – $78.17 based on experience) Benefits Eligible: Yes Available Units Medical/Surgical Telemetry Medical/Surgical Pediatrics Minimum Qualifications BSN degree from an accredited program required within four years of hire (exceptions apply for specific hire dates and service years). BLS certification upon hire. ACLS required within nine months of hire for ICU/ED RNs. OCN certification or 12 credits of cancer‑related education per year for Oncology RNs. PALS and TNCC required for ICU/ED or transfer, within specified timeframes. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, read and interpret complex documentation, and solve practical problems in settings with limited standardization. Regular attendance and ability to perform duties on site during scheduled shifts. Preferred Qualifications National certification in area of practice. Advanced manual dexterity and proficiency with monitoring equipment and medication preparation. Strong verbal communication and ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Physical capability to lift and transfer patients and manage required equipment.
