Project Quality Specialist
The Project Quality Specialist ensures consistent product quality performance across customer field installations. This role supports disciplined quality execution, structured problem solving, and closed-loop corrective action to resolve issues, reduce risk, and help maintain on-time project delivery.
This position serves as a primary connection point between field operations, suppliers, and internal functions. The role ensures quality concerns are clearly communicated, effectively managed, and resolved in alignment with customer expectations, project requirements, and schedule commitments.
Aligned with the Product Quality Center of Excellence (CoE), this role strengthens organizational capability through standardized processes, data-driven insights, consistent issue management, and continuous improvement of product and supplier quality performance.
The Project Quality Specialist role is structured across three levels to reflect increasing scope, experience, and leadership responsibility:
- Level I Entry
- Level II Intermediate
- Level III Senior / Lead
Field Quality Execution
- Establish and deploy standardized quality processes, inspection criteria, and documentation requirements for customer field sites.
- Partner with Field Supervisors to ensure consistent application of quality requirements during product receipt, installation, integration, and commissioning.
Data Collection & Analysis
- Collect, validate, and analyze field quality data, including defect trends, failure modes, risk indicators, and corrective action status.
- Identify recurring trends and systemic issues to support proactive quality improvement and risk reduction initiatives.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action
- Lead or support structured root cause investigations using 8D corrective action verification.
- Initiate, track, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring timely containment, corrective action, preventive action, and closure.
Issue Management & Resolution
- Own or coordinate end-to-end resolution of field quality issues, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, internal standards, and project timelines.
- Develop and execute actionable quality plans to address product, supplier, installation, and integration-related concerns.
Cross-Site & Supplier Quality Coordination
- Coordinate across multiple field sites to assess quality scope, identify risks, and ensure consistency in issue resolution.
- Interface with Supplier Quality Specialists to address supplier-related issues, improve performance, and reinforce accountability for corrective actions.
Closed-Loop Quality Feedback
- Maintain an effective feedback loop between field operations, suppliers, assembly/manufacturing, engineering, and project teams.
- Maintain communication with internal safety personnel regarding field-related safety concerns.
- Translate field learnings into process improvements, standard work updates, supplier corrective actions, and product design enhancements.
Project & Schedule Support
- Partner with Construction Managers and Project Managers to resolve quality issues while minimizing impact to project delivery milestones.
- Provide timely risk visibility, escalation, and recommended mitigation actions to support schedule integrity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Project Management, Field Operations, and Customer Service to align priorities, remove barriers, and drive timely resolution.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to Product Quality CoE initiatives by supporting standardization, best practices, lessons learned, and capability development across the organization.

Education & Experience:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- 37+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, field service, supplier quality, or project-based operational environments.
- Experience supporting field installations, supplier quality, product integration, or customer site issue resolution preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting root cause analysis, corrective action, risk assessment, and issue closure processes.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of quality systems, tools, and methodologies (RCA, 8D, FMEA, risk assessment)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and installation requirements
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel, quality dashboards, and related reporting systems.
Systems & Tools:
- Experience with quality management systems, such as QT9 or similar platforms, for document control, NCR management, and standard work administration.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP systems; SAP experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Core Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Assembly, Field Operations, and Project Management teams.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work directly with suppliers, field teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation, follow-up, and process discipline.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify risks, escalate appropriately, and drive timely resolution.
Preferred Certifications and Experience:
- Experience in automated material handling or intralogistics systems, such as singulators, sorters, conveyors, controls, or related equipment.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
- ASQ certification, such as CQI, CQA, or equivalent, preferred.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, talk, and hear. The employee frequently stands and walks and occasionally sits, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
During customer site-specific activities, the employee may be exposed to elevated noise levels. Inspection work may also require entering confined spaces to take photos, capture dimensions, or verify belt tension.
The Project Quality Specialist works in a combination of office, assembly shop floor, and customer facility environments, including airports, fulfillment centers, and distribution centers. Time is expected to be spent in both office and operational settings, with an estimated split of approximately 70% office-based work and 30% assembly shop, field, or customer site support.
