Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $21.50hr - $23.05hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the company to patients visiting for health routines or insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures. Having direct contact with patients, the candidate creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II will focus on process excellence skills and maintain sensitivity to the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures with confidence.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing the patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Commitment to all policies and procedures, including the organizational dress code, employee health and safety, and core guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, with the requirement to cover Patient Service Center or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated superior customer focus, open and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients, adaptability to change, and understanding of the business.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training (such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic training) is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is highly preferred.
• Experience with keyboarding and data entry.
