Position: PLC Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced PLC Engineer with strong expertise in drilling rig control systems, PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, and industrial automation support.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in designing and maintaining control systems for drilling rigs
• Strong PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley preferred; Siemens acceptable)
• Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development
• Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (ABB and GE Converteam preferred)
• Knowledge of Industrial PCs, Servers, networking, and communication protocols
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to drilling rig sites.
Responsibilities:
• Support development and implementation of advanced control systems for drilling rigs and drilling equipment
• Participate in integration testing, FAT, SAT, and system setup activities
• Troubleshoot drilling rig control systems to minimize downtime and improve performance
• Provide technical guidance to field technicians and operations teams
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including FRDs, commissioning docs, and release documents
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
• Train junior engineers and field technicians on deployment and commissioning activities
