About the Role:

As a Cook at Summit Health and Living, you will play a vital role in preparing and delivering high-quality meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. Your work will ensure that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established recipes and dietary guidelines. You will collaborate closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen environment. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work on your feet for extended periods while managing multiple tasks. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of those we serve by providing nourishing and enjoyable meals every day.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking in a professional kitchen setting.
• Ability to read and speak English fluently to follow instructions and communicate with team members.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle kitchen tasks.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Capability to move objects and climb stairs as part of daily kitchen operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working under the supervision of a Head Chef or in a similar culinary leadership environment.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or senior living facility kitchen.
• Familiarity with specialized dietary needs such as diabetic or low-sodium meal preparation.
• Basic knowledge of inventory management and kitchen supply ordering.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of food items.
• Assist the Head Cook in daily kitchen operations and food production planning.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors in English to coordinate tasks.
• Lift and move kitchen supplies and equipment as needed, including climbing stairs to access storage areas.
• Stand for extended periods while performing food preparation and cooking duties.
