Photographer, Camp Kaleidoscope, Summer Day Camp

Position Overview We are seeking a Photographer to capture the magic and fun of Camp Kaleidoscope, a summer day camp in Newton. The photographer will photograph campers during drama, art, science, sports, swimming, and other activities and package images for marketing materials and newsletters. Job Details Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (8‑week program June 22 – Aug 21, including staff training). This is an hourly, seasonal position with a starting pay of $18 per hour, subject to qualifications and internal equity. Seasonal staff receive access to JCC Health & Fitness Center, and may be eligible for discounted enrollment in camp programs for children. Primary Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and lead age‑appropriate activities in your specialty area. Ensure the safety and well‑being of campers during activities. Create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages skill‑building and exploration. Work in partnership with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive, positive camper experience. Maintain, organize, and request necessary supplies and equipment. Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse campers. Support camp‑wide special events and large‑group programming as assigned. Assist with overall camp operations as needed (drop‑off/pick‑up, transitions, lunch, supervision, etc.). Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma preferred. College degree, concentration, or equivalent experience in marketing, photography, or a media‑related field preferred. 1+ year of photography experience. Portfolio or examples of projects preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Skills & Abilities Authentic enjoyment of working with children and helping them grow. Passion and expertise in photography and media production. Ability to plan and lead age‑appropriate, engaging, and inclusive activities. Excellent group management, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills. Safety awareness and risk management during activities. Creativity, flexibility, and patience to adapt activities for diverse camper needs. Positive, energetic attitude and commitment to fostering an inclusive, joyful camp environment. Proactive problem‑solving and willingness to ask for guidance when needed. Self‑starter who takes initiative. Ability to manage situations effectively and diplomatically while seeking help, guidance, or clarification when needed. Commitment to building strong relationships with campers, co‑workers, and camp leadership. Physical Requirements Work in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Work in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods (rain, heat, humidity, cold, etc.). Lift and carry objects weighing 30‑40 pounds (boxes of supplies, children’s backpacks). Sit, kneel, and get down at eye level with children regularly.
