A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a credentialed medical professional with academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience and completed ARDMS or ARRT (US) registration, which is the standard of practice in Ultrasound.

Minimum Requirements

• High school or equivalent (or higher)
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current ARDMS or ARRT (US) registration required (physics and one specialty exam AB, OB/GYN)
• 5 years of experience as US technologist (sonographer)

Other Information

• Primary Shift: Day
  • Weekdays: 8:00am - 4:30pm and 9:30am - 6:00pm;
  • Call rotations: 6:00pm - 7:00am Sunday - Thursday every 3rd week
  • Holidays: Call only; 11 hours; 7:00am - 6:00pm rotating
• On Call: Yes
• Weekends: Rotating (Call only); 48 hours rotating every 3rd weekend
• IMPORTANT: This position is listed as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III, but based on the minimum requirements that are met, the candidate of choice will be hired as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I, II, III or IV.

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital provides a wide range of health services, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition, the Wound Healing and Pain Management clinics serve as referral centers for neighboring ECU Health hospitals and providers.
