About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year of Nursing Experience License: Current Nursing License Certifications: ACLS BLS NPR STABLE Must-Have: Must have 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience. Experience in mother-baby care preferred. Ability to attend deliveries and complete 1 hour of newborn care. Must be able to triage and circulate for C-sections. Experience with magnesium treatment is required. Description: This position involves providing care in the Labor and Delivery setting. The unit has 14 labor and delivery beds. Patients remain in the same room throughout their stay. There are 2 operating room suites for C-sections. The unit handles an average of 90 births per month. Nurses follow staffing standards that allow for 1:1 labor support. Postpartum care is provided with a ratio of 1:3 for couplet care. Triage care typically follows a ratio of 1:3, with possible resource allocation as needed. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin, magnesium, and insulin protocols. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments but provide oversight. There is a resource nurse and triage nurse available on each shift. An OB hospitalist and a neonatal nurse practitioner are available 24/7. Anesthesia staff are also on-site around the clock. The unit has the capacity to manage high-risk complications, though certain conditions are not accepted. Diversity in patient care is a key aspect of the unit's operations. Nurses should be prepared for full shift floating between multiple facilities as needed. Travelers may not engage with long consecutive shifts. Weekend and holiday work is based on unit needs without minimum requirements. Travelers should adhere to uniform protocols and provide care following established guidelines. No additional accommodations for shift preferences are guaranteed. Compliance training and charting system familiarization will be necessary. Specific guidelines on personal grooming and nail policies must be followed. The cancellation policy allows for client-initiated cancelations.
