The Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary and specialty medical care to adult patients. The NP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic medical conditions while emphasizing preventive care, patient education, and long-term health management. To learn more, visit Responsibilities Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in adult medicine. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals. Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies. Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness and potential adverse effects. Provide preventive healthcare, including health screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling. Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, and cardiovascular conditions. Educate patients regarding medications, lifestyle modifications, disease management, and preventive health. Coordinate referrals and care with specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and follow applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards. Qualifications Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current national NP certification, such as ANCC or AANP certification. Active RN and APRN/NP license in the applicable state. Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification, depending on the practice. Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required by the employer. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Experience in internal medicine, primary care, or adult healthcare preferred. Pay Transparency Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $131,000 to $146,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
