Job Details Job Location: SSI-(TCE) Louisville Bypass - Louisville, MS 39339 Position Type: Full Time Job Summary This position reports to the Service Supervisor from whom work assignments are received. The Field Service Mechanic coordinates with the supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedules, prioritising customer needs and ensuring timely delivery of parts and service. The incumbent develops personal relationships with customers, establishes a source for service and parts, and maintains the company’s reputation through excellent service and prompt, accurate reporting. Duties/Responsibilities Consult with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer needs, considering machine location, and availability of parts. Diagnose malfunctions, repair and/or replace worn and defective parts, install new assemblies, and adjust devices and controls to keep machines operating. Provide tools and parts and arrange for facilities to perform repair work, usually at customer premises. Inspect, operate, and test machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals, and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components. Report relevant information to Service Supervisor—including customer name, machine description, nature of malfunction, time worked, driving and waiting times, mileage, etc.—to enable accurate billing. Strive to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meetings, and reading technical literature. Promote and enhance the company image by maintaining a neat personal appearance and keeping the service truck clean, polished, and orderly. Advanced servicemen serve as troubleshooters for recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve issues. Advanced servicemen train new servicemen or supervise a team of servicemen in assembling or servicing large units or in joint large repair jobs. Qualifications – Required Skills/Abilities Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Valid driver’s license and good driving record, as the employee drives company‑owned vehicles under corporate insurance requirements. Occasional overnight stays at out‑of‑town locations. Basic computer skills and ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material. Education and Experience Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair. Three years of on‑the‑job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics, or equivalent schooling that can substitute for experience. While an AWSD14 Welding Test pass is not required, the incumbent must pass the tacker test and is encouraged to improve welding skills for future promotion considerations.
