Dental Assistant – Omaha Pay: $20,000. Additional $3.00 per hour differential for hours worked. Numerous training and development opportunities Job Description Assists dentists in examining and rendering dental and oral care and surgery to patients in a correctional institution. Incumbents exercise independent judgment. Duties include operation of dental and lab equipment and performing assistance during all patient treatments. Work is generally reviewed by the dentist through observation. Maintenance of sanitation and lab equipment is performed. The role also involves assisting in laboratory procedures and in the operation of a small dental laboratory. Responsibilities Prepare and situate patients in dental chair. Prepare dental instruments and materials needed for treatment. Expose, develop and mount dental X‑rays as needed. Provide chair‑side dental assistance with all types of patient treatment. Maintain sanitation of instruments and facility. Assist dentist with oral surgery, including general anesthesia assistance. Assist in laboratory procedures and maintain a small dental laboratory. Minimum Qualifications Complete a Nebraska Board of Dentistry approved two‑day course for radiography or pass the DANB CDA exam, or complete a CODA‑accredited dental assisting program with radiography training. Graduate from a CODA‑accredited program with coronal polishing course, or complete one year (≥1500 hours) of clinical experience as a dental assistant and a Nebraska Board‑approved polishing course. Preferred Qualifications Certificate as a Certified Dental Assistant. High school education plus two years of dental assistant experience. Additional Requirements Will complete four to eight weeks of on‑the‑job training. Must pass background security check. Must pass pre‑employment medical examination and drug test.
