About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Psychological Sciences. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of a transformative period, leading the department through a major expansion and transition. This role is pivotal in shaping the future direction of the department, with a focus on balancing long-standing strengths in developmental and cognitive science with new initiatives in mental health and well-being. The Chair will be responsible for strategic planning, overseeing faculty recruitment and development, and strengthening the department's external research funding profile. A key aspect of the position is the successful integration of the Sara and Curt Moll Institute for Mental Health and Well-Being, ensuring it serves as a catalyst for interdisciplinary collaboration and societal impact. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field, a strong leadership background in an academic setting, and a clear vision for departmental growth. The role requires a deep understanding of the external funding landscape, a proven track record in research and grant funding, and a commitment to fostering a collegial, inclusive culture. While specific research focus is open, expertise in developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, or affective science is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a successful record in teaching and mentoring, and will be adept at advancing interdisciplinary partnerships and visibility. The Chair will also be expected to provide effective administrative leadership, including budget management, personnel oversight, and a commitment to student training and scholarly excellence.
