Respiratory Therapist PRN - Nights

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex multiple‑problem situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, independent decision‑making, and self‑direction. The role also includes patient, family/support system education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional and self‑developmental activities. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Perform patient assessment and therapy evaluation. Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan patient care. Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy. Manage ventilators, including weaning and waveform graphic interpretation. Perform airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change, and care). Collect and analyze arterial blood gas samples. Educate patients, families, and new employees, students, and peers. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Promote patient safety, quality of care, evidence‑based practice, and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy – Preferred Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications NBRC‑RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist RCP – Respiratory Care Prof BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor ACLS – Advanced Cardiac/Chest Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS – Instructor Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care.
