Histology Technician

The Office of Research is seeking to hire a Histology Technician to join our team. The Histology Technician supports the operation of the Instrumentation Resource Facility by providing high-quality histological specimen processing services for investigators across multiple departments and research programs. This position performs tissue preparation, embedding, sectioning, staining, and related laboratory procedures to support basic, translational, and clinical research. The Histology Technician maintains instrumentation, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, assists users with experimental planning, and contributes to the efficient operation of a shared research facility.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

• Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP.
• Two or more years of experience in a research histology laboratory, pathology laboratory, or shared instrumentation facility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to perform histological specimen processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Knowledge of tissue handling, fixation methods, microtomy, cryosectioning, and microscopy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
