Registered Nurse - PreOp

Job Description Job Summary: TRAVEL - RN - PreOP/Day Surgery (786) / MC Dallas / 8A-8P provides preoperative and day-surgery nursing care across preadmit testing, pre-op, holding, and post-op support as needed. The RN collaborates with perioperative teams to bridge workflow gaps and ensure safe, timely patient preparation and recovery. Responsibilities:

- Administer preoperative assessments and patient education to adult and pediatric patients as assigned.
- Perform IV starts and manage IV therapy using appropriate equipment and protocols.
- Complete and document preadmit testing workflows, including charting and phone-call coordination.
- Prepare patients for procedures by coordinating with OR holding and day-surgery teams.
- Monitor and support post-op patients, responding to changes in condition within scope.
- Use Meditech and follow unit documentation standards to maintain accurate records.
- Hold an active RN license in the applicable state and maintain professional compliance.
- Possess current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Demonstrate Meditech experience in a clinical setting.
- Perform IV starts reliably as part of routine preoperative care.
- Bring preop and/or day-surgery and preadmit testing experience; prioritize adult experience.
- Demonstrate readiness to support pediatric patients when required.
- Strengthen perioperative competencies through exposure to common surgical specialties and diversified workflows.
- Build confidence with preadmit testing and day-surgery throughput while partnering with experienced staff.
- Develop adaptability through cross-functional coverage in pre-op, holding, and post-op environments.
