Part of this role will be to assure adherence to the Woodward Global EHS strategies by developing and coordinating tactical and risk reduction programs to maintain site productivity goals and continuous improvement objectives. The primary focus for this position is on the areas of safety and health. Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist I Key Responsibilities: Responsible for developing, implementing, managing and maintaining EHS programs, procedures, and training that support the safe and successful operation of manufacturing environment. Develop and deliver basic safety training (e.g., PPE use, ergonomics, new hire safety orientation, emergency response and incident reporting procedures, etc.) tailored to manufacturing roles. Investigates incidents and accidents to identify root causes and how they might be prevented using methodologies such as 5-Whys, Fishbone, and Bowtie. Promotes effective communication programs to enhance member awareness of health, safety, and environmental compliance. Work closely with operations, facilities, HR, and other departments to integrate health and safety into all business processes. Consults, advises and works collaboratively with site leadership regarding issues, problems, programs, processes and systems in the areas of safety and health. Participate in project environmental health and safety reviews and Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure new or modified machinery/processes meet safety requirements. Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to closure using EHS management software. Performs basic safety inspections, risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and job hazard analysis for manufacturing processes. Administers web-based safety management software system for incident management, action tracking, compliance calendar tasks, inspections, etc. Key Skills: Safety Compliance: Ensures workplace safety standards are met by adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines. Risk Assessment: Identifies and evaluates potential hazards in the workplace to mitigate risks and enhance safety measures. Incident Reporting: Accurately documents and reports safety incidents and near misses following standardized procedures. Data Analysis: Analyzes safety and environmental data to identify trends and support decision making processes. Communication Skills: Effectively communicates safety protocols and procedures to team members and stakeholders. Attention to Detail: Maintains meticulous records and pays close attention to safety and environmental compliance details. Technical Documentation: Prepares and maintains technical documents related to environmental health and safety procedures. Time Management: Manages time efficiently to complete safety assessments and compliance tasks within set deadlines. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues who possess varying degrees of EHS subject matter knowledge Successful Candidates Will Typically Have: US - Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Occupational Safety, Health and/or Environmental Science, Hazardous Materials Technology or other related field preferred; may substitute appropriate work experience for education required 2-5 years of experience in Occupational Safety and/or Environmental in a manufacturing environment or other relevant/applicable industry or agency. Basic level of knowledge and experience with environmental, safety and health issues in a manufacturing environment. Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist II Key Responsibilities: Establishes and implements short and long range EHS tactical programs, goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures in line with internal and external requirements; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and KPI's; effects change necessary for improvement. Acts as the senior technical authority for environmental, health, and safety systems within the business by consulting, advising and working collaboratively with site leadership regarding issues, problems, programs, processes and systems in the areas of environment, safety and health. Ownership of end-to-end lifecycle of core EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, ergonomics, IH) for the facility in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Standardization and scalability of programs across multiple shifts and departments. Develop and deliver high-risk and regulatory required safety training (e.g., LOTO - Authorized, Confined Space, Work at Height, Powered Industrial Truck, Crane/Hoist, etc.) tailored to manufacturing and support roles, ensuring effectiveness through evaluation and continuous improvement. Conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations of machinery and manufacturing processes to inform risk reduction and mitigation strategies to be driven through the business. Drive the development of a site-wide ergonomic strategy by analyzing injury trends, leading advanced ergonomic assessments, and partnering with engineering and operations to implement sustainable design and process improvements. Serve as the EHS lead for automation initiatives, ensuring integration of safety principles into equipment design, risk assessments, and commissioning processes while supporting safe adoption of new technologies. Assist in the development and management of EHS budgets and capital justifications for safety supplies, machinery, and equipment. Leads regulatory inspections and agency interactions, ensures readiness for corporate and external audits, interprets regulatory changes and translates into site-wide actions, and advises leadership on impact (or potential impact) to the business operations through development and implementation of on-site inspection and monitoring programs/processes. Manage industrial hygiene programs including noise monitoring, air sampling, and chemical exposure assessments. Key Skills: Regulatory Compliance: In-depth understanding of EHS laws and regulations to ensure organizational adherence. Risk Assessment: Proficient in identifying and evaluating potential environmental and safety hazards. Incident Investigation: Skilled in conducting thorough analyses of workplace incidents to determine root causes. Safety Auditing: Expertise in performing comprehensive safety audits and inspections to maintain compliance. Data Analysis: Ability to analyze EHS data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Effective Communication: Capable of clearly conveying complex EHS information to diverse stakeholders. Training Development: Experienced in designing and delivering EHS training programs for employees. Policy Development: Competent in creating and implementing EHS policies and procedures. Problem Solving: Adept at resolving EHS related issues using technical expertise and sound judgment. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues who possess varying degrees of EHS subject matter knowledge. Successful Candidates Will Typically Have: US - Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Occupational Safety, Health and/or Environmental Science, Hazardous Materials Technology or other related field preferred; may substitute appropriate work experience for education required 5+ years' Experience in Occupational Safety and/or Environmental, with minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment or other relevant/applicable industry or agency required. Professional Level Certification (CSP, EIT, etc) preferred Subject Matter Expertise level of knowledge and experience with environmental, safety and health programs in a manufacturing environment.
