FOREST RANGER

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a Forest Ranger. This position involves forest fire prevention, detection, suppression, and presuppression, providing technical forestry services and information to landowners and wood-using industry representatives, assisting with state lands management, and presenting forestry educational programs.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• No convictions related to certification, perjury, or false statements
• Valid driver's license
• Good moral character and physical condition
• Non-user of tobacco for at least one year

Additional Requirements:

• Obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six months of appointment
• Occasional to moderate travel required
• Must live within 30 miles of the assigned headquarters in Sanderson, Florida
• Certificate of Compliance as Firefighter

Job Duties:

• Operate and maintain fire suppression equipment
• Investigate wildfire causes and perform fire detection
• Provide technical forestry services and public education programs
• Assist with state lands management activities
• Maintain public facilities and equipment
• Perform maintenance and construction activities
